Signed by Author. 550 g; 352 pages, last two pages blank, includes bibliography, end page maps illustrating the author's wanderings around India and Burma, and numerous black-and-white photographs throughout the text. Decorated dust jacket. The edges of the text block are slightly darkened with age, and the top edge of the dust jacket is rubbed, with several short tears and has light chipping to the bottom edge around the spine. Inscribed to a previous owner and dated Christmas 1946. This book describes a six month's tour of 30,000 miles through India, Ceylon and Burma including visits to all achieve cities, provinces, Native States, and war zones. Told in the author's well-known lively and unorthodox style, the narrative grips the reader's interest and holds it hours of absorbing entertainment and information. -- front fold over blurb Size: 8vo - over 7¾" - 9¾" tall.
