Hamish Hamilton, 1978. 1st Edition. Hardcover. VG. 1st Edition, 1st impression. 21.3 x 30.2 cm laminated pictorial boards with titles to the front and spine and �2.95 price to the rear board. Unpaginated (32) with colour illustrations by Briggs throughout. There is a touch of toning to the spine and from there a 7 cm band on the front board and a little bruising to the spine tips. The corners are firm and sharp. Internally there is no name, inscription or bookplate and the book is clean with the exception of a 2cm long area of rubbing on the front free endpaper and two short rows of tiny light indentations (from the production process?). The book is now protected by a removable, clear, rigid plastic cover (not shown) and presents well. All in all a lovely first edition copy of this children's classic Christmas tale.
