Original advertising herald for the US release of the 1927 film, a shortened 115-minute version re-cut by American playwright Channing Pollock, who is credited on the herald. Interestingly, the herald credits the film as joint production of Paramount and UFA, just prior to the formation of the larger umbrella production company Parufamet, which included UFA, Paramount, and MGM. 4.5 x 6 inches folded, 8.75 x 6 inches unfolded. [China].: 軍事委員會政治訓練部. [Jun shi wei yuan hui zheng zhi xun lian bu].. [1926].. Chinese Kuomintang propaganda poster printed in red, issued by the Political Training Department of the Military Affairs Commission. Text in traditional Chinese. Chinese character for "one" at lower left apparently indicates more posters in this series. Small mark right edge, some light creases, very good. Sheet measures 78.6 x 26.8cm. The Double Tenth Day celebrates the Wuchang Uprising on October 10th 1911. The uprising took place in what is today the Wuchang district within Wuhan and brought about the end of the Qing Dynasty. This uprising was the first of a series of uprisings across China and by the end of 1911 there was really no doubt that the Qing Dynasty would fall. [南京].[Nanking].: 南京特別市農民協會.. [1928].. Chinese Kuomintang (KMT) propaganda poster stencilled in blue and red, appears to have been issued folded with 4 neat horizontal folds visible, some other minor creasing, small closed tear from margin, archival repair to lower left corner, small stain lower corner. Issued by the Peasants' Association of Nanking Special Municipality, the party emblem of KMT is centrally placed at the top of the poster with skulls and crossbones just below, calligraphic text takes up the majority of the poster with the characters for "five" and "three" highlighted, lower edge dripping blood, overall very good. Text in traditional Chinese. Sheet measures 78 x 26cm. In the final stage of the Northern Expedition, Chang Kai-shek's National Revolutionary Army (NRA) entered Jinan, the capital city of Shandong Province in April 1928. [Berkeley]: [People's Park Negotiating Committee and others], 1969. Very good +. 21 leaflets or handbills, mimeographed or offset printed on variously-colored stocks, and all measuring 8.5" x 11". Condition varies, with occasional toning or flattened folds, but mostly very good or better. Two examples printed on yellow paper show more wear, having obviously spent some time on a telephone pole, with some insect damage and corner tears, but still generally complete. A rich collection of hastily produced leaflets, most of which date to May and June, 1969 (a few are as late as September). The area in question, People's Park, had been just recently opened, and was owned by UC-Berkeley. The university quickly developed plans to convert the land into a sports facility, though the space had already become a haven for campus radicals and free speech activists, following the tradition of Mario Savio and the Free Speech Movement just half a decade earlier on the same campus. The poster features numerous vignettes of human activity - eating, drinking, travel, sports, music, dance, entertainment and merrymaking, framed by inner and outer borders of humorous verse: "I used to know a clever toast but now I cannot think it, so fill your glass to anything and damn your souls I'll drink it."
