Beautiful newer endpapers multi color and gilt floral designs. Some very minor foxing and a short clean tear to p19 of vol.2 no affect else the books are near fine. Nice set priced to go. The Sketch Book is a collection of essays and short stories written by American author Washington Irving. The collection includes two of Irvings best known stories - The Legend of Sleepy Hollow and Rip Van Winkle. Irvings use of the pseudonym Geoffrey Crayon was employed throughout his career.

Two 12mo in publisher's cloth with spine labels. 236, 264 pp. G. Wear and rubbing to boards; corners bumped; spine labels worn and chipped. Bindings are strong. Foxing throughout. Name in ink on front pastedown and ffep. Ships wrapped in bubble wrap and packed securely in a box.

Contemporary blindstamped dark blue polished calf with gilt florar borders, gilt dentelles, gilt decoration & lettering to spines; marbled endpapers & page-edges. Light rubbing to extremities & joints; Vol. I front hinge starting; inscriptions on titles; short scrape to Vol. II lower spine; offsetting from engravings else very good plus; an attractive set.
