Still bright and complete with no creases or tears. A solid collectable copy at a great price.

London: Methuen, 1941. First edition. Hardback. Very Good/No Jacket. 263 12mo. Green cloth covered boards, faded green titles to spine, coloured frontispiece, coloured and black and white plates, 90 pages. This little book was written in the early years of the 1939-1945 war by a Chinese artist who found himself living in London and under the travel restrictions placed on aliens at the time. Thus, most of the illustrations were painted from memory. They are all landscapes, views of places in the Yorkshire Dales, drawn or painted in the Chinese style. There are also some plates of Chinese characters. Condition notes: Foxing to endpapers, a little spotting to the half title, but pages thereafter clean and unmarked. Plates are in clean, bright condition. Some spotting to the fore-edges of the text block. Boards rubbed and a little bumped. There are no library markings, although there is a reinforced suspension hole in the spine strip.

Slim 12mo., 90pp. Sharp Stated First American Edition, bound in tan cloth with titles in green on spine and in Chinese characters in green on front board. Published by Methuen in the UK. Square, tight and clean throughout with a touch of wear and toning to spine ends.. Very attractive clipped Methuen dust-jacket has some chipping to the spine ends. A few tears to tears that are repaired with small pieces of tapes on the reveres. Looks a lot better than it sounds and is still bright and complete. A solid collectable copy of a surprisingly scarce Edition; much more scarce than the British Edition.
