Country Life, 1946. Hardcover. Good. 1946. 67 pages. No dust jacket. Beige cloth. Inscription to front pastedown. Pages are lightly tanned and thumbed at the edges, with light foxing. Binding has remained firm. Boards are a little rub worn, slight shelf wear to corners, spine and edges. Corners are a little bumped. Spine ends are mildly crushed.

London: Counry Life Ltd, 1944. Hardcover. Very Good/Very Good. 8vo., 67pp. Sharp Fourth Printing, bound in tan cloth with titles in black on spine and in Chinese characters in black on front board. Square and tight with little or no wear save a gentle bump to the bottom front tip. Some foxing on paste-downs. Light water stain to the top corner of the first and last few pages but fairly innocuous. Attractive unclipped dust-jacket, (8s. 6d. net) has toning to edges and spine. Scattered spotting. No creases, chipping or tears. A decent collectable copy at a great price.

With 12 other illustrations throughout. Bound in taupe cloth with Chinese characters stamped on front board, English lettering on spine. Former owner name on front free endpaper, which also features a card, dated 1952, with a typed gift inscription, tipped in. That leaf is also clipped at the corner. The illustrated dust jacket, price-clipped, shows light edge-wear, and a chip at the top of the front panel. Please see photo. An early reprint of the first of Chiang Yee's Silent Traveller series. The book was so well received it launched a career for the author-artist; when his London publisher dispatched him to gain impressions of New York and Boston for future titles in the series, he was induced by Columbia University to consider a professorship.
