About This Item
unbound. very good(+). Exceptional signed souvenir typescript "Mark W. Clark", 4to. 1 page, a passage from his book "Calculated Risk", written at the height of the Red Scare, in full: "There were things I knew from my own experience when the Alger Hiss case broke. The nagging fear was that perhaps communists had wormed their way so deeply into our government on both the working and planning levels that they were able to exercise an inordinate degree of power in shaping the course of America in the dangerous post-war era. I could not help wondering and wondering whether we were faced with open enemies across the conference table and hidden enemies who sat with us in our most secret councils." Boldly signed and in fine condition.
