Richmond Park, [South Australia]: July 12, 1913., 1913.. Good. - Approximately 300 words penned on 4 sides of a folded sheet of creamy white paper, with each page measuring 8 inches high by 5 inches wide. "Richmond Park" is printed at the top of the cover page. Aldridge has altered the partially printed date from "1903" to "1913". Started on the cover page, Aldridge has continued his letter on the last page to then conclude on the inner 2 leaves. Signed "J.H. Aldridge" on the inner leaf. Once apparently mounted along the inner edge with glue or tape, there are heavy stains with remnants of glue to the inner edge of the first and last page. There is a tiny tear along the fold with some light brown stains or foxing to all four pages. Good. A RARE LETTER REPLETE WITH HORSE RACING ASSOCIATIONS. Aldridge writes to the Marchioness of Londonderry praising the horse he purchased from her and the Marquis of Londonderry. Als On Note Paper, 4Pp., Letterhead Of Lamb House, Rye, Sussex, To "Mr. Wyckoff", Apparently One Of His Wyckoff Cousins, Descendants Of His Paternal Grandmother's Sister, Mary Robinson (1788-1855); This May Be Albert Wyckoff(1840-Circa 1899) If Albert's Commonly Suggested But Indefinite Date Of Death In 1899 Is Incorrect, But More Likely Another Wyckoff Cousin. The Formal Address Of The Recipient As "Mr. Wyckoff" Indicates That They Were Not, Or Were Not Yet, On Intimate Terms. The Letter Shows That James Had Tried To Reach Wyckoff To Arrange A Visit, Explaining That His Brother William And William's Wife And Daughter Had Been Visiting, And Suggests A Visit On September 14Th Until The Following Monday. "It's 10 To 1 That You Are In Scotland Or Elsewhere In The Castles Of The Great..." But Expresses Hope That A Visit Can Be Arranged And That He Will Be Home Until About October 1.
