Hardcover without dust jacket, later (1898) printing thus, 558 pages, plus a one-page list of "Works by James Anthony Froude", another one-page "Lord Macaulay's Works and Life", and a 32-page "Messrs. Longmans, Green, & Co.'s Classified Catalogue";---this series is 19.5 x 13.5 cm (not the smaller pocket edition), bound in red cloth with a simple gilt rectangle embossed on front cover, gilt spine lettering and decoration (including a galleon in full sail) still bright and clear although spine slightly faded,---overall very gently used, tight in binding, rubbing to cover corner tips, spine ends and bottom edges, tiny label of original London bookstore inside front cover, otherwise very clean and unmarked throughout, pages surprisingly fresh and white for a book of this vintage, no foxing; (as a final note in a spirit of complete and utter nonsense, as this is the "Silver Library", I think the cover gilt should have been in silver rather than gold, just saying).
