U.S.A.: Doubleday & Co., 1975. Stated first edition. Black faux-leather spine over brown boards, gilt titles. Well-loved tale about an aging gunslinger that was filmed by Don Siegel and starred John Wayne. Swarthout's son has written a kind of sequel, The Last Shootist. Book looks good on the outside but has suffered some internal moisture-rippling, resulting in discoloration to pastedowns and light warping of some pages toward the end of the text block. DJ has mostly escaped this accident with only a few spots at flaps. Now very rare in first. 186 pp.. 1st Edition.. Hardcover. Very Good/Very Good.
