About This Item

[Barcelona]: SIA, [193-]. Ephemera. Sheet of 12 stamps in the denomination of 5 pesetas, rubberstamped with the cancellation of the Spanish section of the SIA to show that the donation had been received. Design features a hand raised to shield a child from falling bombs marked with a swastika and a fascist emblem. The SIA was a humanitarian organization aligned with the CNT and the FAI in Spain. These stamps were sold to raise funds to assist refugees and to conduct other humanitarian work during the Spanish Civil War.
