Red cloth covered boards carry gilt blocked text on spine and bevel-edged front panel. Impressed line decoration on spine and front panel- three at top and nine at bottom. Top edge gilt. Extremities are scuffed , gauze evident at both front and rear hinges, ffep's are missing. Full Title p. is the first in the book. Black 1/4" dia. spot on front panel. Full title p. has significant tear, age toning throughout. Although this was the last(1841) of the five Leather-Stocking novels, it is actually first in the sequence of the 'Tale'. A rare edition thus. Bookseller's Inventory # 230876.
