London: Society for Promoting Christian Knowledge,, 1946. First edition, sole impression, scarce, with WorldCat locating only nine copies in institutions. This work takes prayers from Chinese and Indian Christian traditions and translates them in "a free and poetic arrangement that aims towards literary beauty, and the correct philosophical meaning rather than a literal interpretation of the Chinese and Sanskrit languages" (p. 5). Octavo. Original light pink wrappers with flaps, printed with a scene of Japanese landscape in black, blue, and green. Black and white illustrations by Rose throughout. Spine ends slightly chipped, edges a little nicked and creased, wrappers soiled, front inner hinge starting at ends
