Toronto: MacmiIllan of Canada, 1989. The author worked as a director and screenwriter for a number of dramatic television series and features. In 1980 he traveled to Afghanistan to see conditions there for himself and to research the background for this novel. The Seventh Gate is set in the area in which he traveled and many of its characters are modeled on people he met there. Map of "Eastern Afghanistan" opposite contents page.
