Original yellow printed wrappers. Spine head and foot worn and slightly bumped. Covers slightly soiled. Volume 1936: Paper damages near staples between page 258, page 259 and page 260. Volume 1937: Pages upper corner slightly bumped. Slight folding marks on last few pages. Otherwise in very good condition. Issued for the use of the customs service by order of the inspector general of customs. The sixty-second issue lists 9371 staff members and the sixty-third issue lists 9614 staff members with list of "name", "nationality or family home", "date of first appointment", "date of appointment to present rank", and "station". Contains information such as "distribution of staff according to stations", "withdrawals" , "literary degrees, honors, decorations, etc. held by members of the customs service", "alphabetical name index" and "index of lights tenders, preventive ships, launches, sailing craft, etc". The Chinese Maritime Customs Service was a Chinese governmental tax collection agency and information service from its founding in 1854 until it split in 1949 into services operating in the Republic of China on Taiwan, and in the People's Republic of China.
