Dark Grey cloth with gilt lettering and tent design on cover, gilt lettering on spine. 212 p. w/ illus., index, appendix. Zorn in Co. F, 142nd Pennsylvania Volunteers, 1st Brigade, 3rd Division, I Corps, Union Army of the Potomac. He was captured at Gettysburg, but paroled by year's end and back with his unit, which was then in the 3rd Brigade, 4th Division, V Corps. He was with the Union army through Spotsylvania and the Petersburg campaign, and part of the pursuit of Lee. Zorn's diary focuses on camp and prisoner life, with brief writing about combats in which he participated. He notes that he was a supporter of McClellan, but has no bad things to say about Lincoln either. The editor is his great granddaughter.
