Poor Condition. an anthology of four eighteenth century novels bound in one book & being "Almoran and Hamet" an oriental tale by Dr. Hawkesworth; "The Old English Baron" a gothic story by Clara Reeve; "Sir Launcelot M. GueuletteGreaves" (in two volumes) by Tobias Smollett; & "Tartarian Tales" or, A Thousand and One Quarters of Hours by M. Gueulette translated from the original French by Thomas Flloyd. Pictorial title page. This volume of the Select Novels series has a printed dedication page to Princess Charlotte in commemoration of her nuptials to Prince Leopold of Saxe-Coberg. There is a preface & dedication to "The Old English Baron" by its author. Also "Tartarian Tales" has a translation of the author's original dedication of the work to the Duke of Chartres. At the rear are directions to the binder. Size: Octavo (standard book size). 62+98+167+197 pages. inside covers, end-papers & a few other pages have browning & damp stains to outer margins but main body of the text is clean. Front board is detached. Scattered foxing, but text mostly clean. no Dust Jacket as published.. Previous owner's name & address in ink inside front cover. Gilt titles & decoration to spine with gilt fillet border to front & rear covers. a few scuffs & minor scratches to leather covers, wear to top & bottom of spine, corners & edges. illustrated by b/w. engravings.
