New York: Hyperion Books for Children, 1996. Hardcover. 104p., near-fine first edition, first printing stated in quarter-cloth boards and bright unclipped dj. Novel about a Native American boy in the Sixteenth Century who is partly blind. One of the author's final books published a year before his suicide while under allegations of child abuse. Ex-husband and co-author of Louise Erdrich he lived his early years on Native American reservations as his paternal grandfather was believed to be Native American.
