About This Item
Cleveland: International Fiction Library, 1929. Hardcover. Small 8vo. Grey cloth with black spine lettering, rules and graphic, pictorial dust jacket. 288pp. Very good/very good. Jacket a bit edgeworn. Tight and bright first U.S. edition of this mystery by the British mathematician (1885-1968) who for fun penned a handful mystery novels between 1924 and 1961. Delightfully corny front jacket panel depicts a closeup of a top-hatted bloke eyeballing a bloodied dagger. Also found in orange cloth, we believe grey cloth has priority. John Lane published the true first edition in London in 1927.
