Lavishly illustrated with plates, some photographic. Decorated endpapers. Bound in brown cloth with black rule and gilt lettering in front cover, gilt lettering on spine, beveled edges. All edges dyed red. Wear to extremities of binding, with a three inch cut along edge of spine. Front hinge starting. Small bookplate of W. H. H. Pillsbury on the front pastedown. Inscription to W. H. Pillsbury contains Waid's reminscence of a visit with Pillsbury at his Grand Island, Nebraska home. Pillsbury was from South Berwick, Maine, born 1840, and July 14,1840, and served as a soldier in Co. I, 17th Maine Regiment, before fulfilling his call as a Methodist minister. He died in Fullertron, NE, 1895. Waid's recollections contains an account of a trip from Pennsylvania to Washington, DC to attend the inauguration of Benjamin Harrison, among other nuggets of Americana.
