From the web site of The Old Stile Press: "These drawings were published almost half a century before the idea of publishing them in a book was presented, after Nicolas and Frances McDowall saw them on the artist's blog at Easter. Natalie d'Arbeloff was an art student in New York City when she first dipped a brush in Indian ink, and these drawings emerged in quick succession. A sense of freedom and excitement marked this period. Abstract expressionism was in the air and d'Arbeloff was for a while studying with Jack Tworkov, one of its leading practitioners, in his studio next door to De Kooning. Perhaps it was these painters' intense commitment to the spontaneous gesture that influenced the drawings, because Tworkov and was noted as being very proud and praised them unconditionally, even though the subject matter was not the sort of thing which would appeal to anyone in that secular, intellectual, bohemian milieu."

___DESCRIPTION: Original blue Tiziano paper covered boards with an image designed by the artist to the upper board, lettering in silver to the backstrip, fore-edge uncut, text printed in blue and gray, full-color frontispiece by the artist, tipped in, laser printed on handmade paper, twelve images printed in black from the original drawings with the aid of photopolymer plates throughout the text; Aries type, Vélin Arches Blanc 200gsm paper, folio size (13" by 9.25"), 56 unnumbered pages, one of 60 copies, this number 12, signed by Natalie d'Arbeloff.

___CONDITION: A fine copy; the covers clean, the corners straight and unrubbed, the binding tight with solid hinges, the interior clean and bright, and free of prior owner markings; clean, crisp, like new.
