About This Item
Faber and Faber, London, 1948. First Edition. Hardcover (Illustrated Boards). Good Condition/Good. Illustrator: Emett. The text is illustrated with black-and-white cartoons drawn by Emett. Beige coloured cloth covered boards with purple coloured illustration to the front panel and purple coloured titles to the back strip. Illustrated dustwrapper, again by Emett, with black coloured titles to the front panel and black and white coloured titles to the back strip. The fourth collection of the artist drawn from the satirical magazine Punch. Softening to the back strip edges with rubbing of the book corners. There is a small hole to the lower edge of the back strip, 2 inches from the bottom. Offset tanning and a little foxing of the end pages with age toning of the pages. A previous owner had covered the dustwrapper in plastic and fastened the plastic with tape which has duly left residue to the end pages. Previous owners name to the free front end page. Chipping of the back strip edges with a whole, commensurate with whole in the to the lower edge. Sunning of the back strip with handling marks to the panels and some stains also present. Light tanning to the verso with some tape residue present. Size: 8vo - over 7¾" - 9¾" tall. Dust Jacket price-clipped. Please refer to accompanying picture (s). Illustrator: Emett.
