About This Item

San Francisco: San Francisco Opera Association, 1938. First Edition. Staplebound printed wraps. Good +. 8vo. Pp. 48. The chief production is Wagner's "Die Meistersinger" presented at the War Memorial Opera House. Details on an upcoming performance of "La Forza del Destino" are printed, too. Loaded with sophisticated ads that reflect an opera-going society seemingly immune to the effects of the Great Depression. Slight general wear. Featuring Friedrich Schorr as Hans Sachs, Charles Kullman as Sir Walter von Stolzing, Karl Laufkoetter as david, Irene Jessner as Eva, Kerstin Thorborg as Magdalena, and George Cehanovsky as the Night Watchman. Symphony conducted by Fritz Reiner. The roster of board members is a Blue Book 100 of San Francisco families. Now housed in an archival mylar sleeve with acid-backing.
