Gallatin's Speech last seen at auction 1961, not found in current commerce. The Case of Charles Pigott not found in current commerce, one in dealer's catalogue in 2020, no auction record at RBH. First edition.This work by the author had been written in his declining years. In a biography of his great-grandfather the author alleges in his introduction that the Voyage is a manuscript found in a shipwreck-and even whole chapters of which are either lost or water-soaked beyond legibility, and that he is the translator of this work. Written with greater care than his Letters, the work, except for several fanciful chapters, offers very real interest and authenticity. Still clean, tight and with a complete label which is unusual. Overall very good. "The Dolphin was sent to the Mulgrave Islands to rescue any survivors of the mutiny on board the Nantucket whaler Globe. On the return voyage the ship stopped at Hawaii, the first United States warship to visit those islands. Laid-in are two letters to the editor of the Cedar Rapids Gazette; one from Woods' sister, and another from a friend of Woods and the author.
