London: Vizetelly & Co, 1888. Second edition. Hardcover. Near Very Good. 8vo. [7], viii-xvi, [1], 2-360 pp. Bound in red-orange cloth with gold decorations on front board and spine. Frontispiece illustration by Bocourt, illustrated with a few additional plates. The second edition in English of Flaubert's historical romance. Translated by J.S. Chartres. A Near Very Good copy with light soiling and edge wear, a small newspaper clipping advertising the book pasted to front pastedown, and a slightly tender binding.
