About This Item
Paris: E. Plon et Cie, Imprimeurs-Editeurs, 1874. Hardcover. 6-volume set (out of 8?). Small 4to. Quarter black calf with gilt spine lettering and rules and brown pebble-grain cloth. xxiii, 601pp; xiv, 549pp; xxx, 632pp; 688pp; 716pp; 722pp. Very good overall. Minor binding edgewear, with rear board of last two volumes starting and delicate but otherwise tight and decent, with leather attractive and spine gilt bright -- and internally all volumes are bright and near fine. "Edition Authentique" of this attractive set of writings (entirely in French) by and about the Roman Catholic saint (1572-1641) who founded the Order of the Visitation of Holy Mary with Saint Francis de Sales in 1610. First volume is "Memoires," followed by "Oeuvres Diverses" volume II (lacks volume I of this subset), and finally 4 volumes of "Lettres" (volumes I, II, III, V). Ex-monastery library, with "This book belongs to the Monastery of the Visitation of Holy Mary of Dubuque" penned at top of each front flyleaf and with very few and discreet other markings.
