The autobiography of someone described at the time as one of the best-known of modern British archaeologists. Some sample chapter titles: Excavations in the Sudan 1913-1914, Trenches and Maps 1914-1916, Bulgaria and Cyprus 1937, Brittany and the Aegean 1946-1954.-Green cloth-covered boards, yellow and black dustjacket, gilt titles to spine, illustrations from photographs, 316 pages . Book review left laid in. Condition notes: A little wear to the dustjacket, and just a little dust soiling to the top edges of the text block, otherwise in excellent condition.

London.: Weidenfeld and Nicolson, 1955. 1st Edition. Hardcover. Very Good/Fair. The unclipped dw is shelfworn and tatty at the spine ends with 1-2 cm loss at the head and 3-5cm loss at the foot. The boards are clean and undamaged with some very light tanning at the top edge of the front board. 316pp. undiscoloured + b/w plates. Binding tight. No prev ownership marks but there are about a dozen instances of orange highlighting to the text typically not more than a sentence or two at a time.
