This small booklet records for the first time the amazing story of the oil tanker 'San Demetrio' based on her officers' eye-witness accounts. Shelled and set on fire by an enemy battleship, she was abandoned by her crew; a handful of her men, adrift in a life-boats, found her again, boarded her, put out the fires, got her engines working again, and took her across the Atlantic to England. Previous owner's name to half-title page.
