About This Item

London: Hurst & Blackett, 1938. First edition of Whittingham's account of the filming of "Toomai of the Elephants." Small quarto, original cloth, illustrated. In near fine condition. This is the record of Korda's attempt to film Toomai of the Elephants (described as "a glorious failure" in Philip French's essay 'Kipling' and in Gross's anthology 'Rudyard Kipling'). Lavishly illustrated with Flaherty's photographs from the film and off stage.
