The text is illustrated with black-and-white drawings by J. Phillips Paterson. Blue coloured boards with dark blue coloured titles to the front panel and back strip. Colour illustrated dustwrapper with yellow and blue coloured titles to the front panel and back strip. A search for Viking treasure on the cusp of World War II. Softening and some fading to the back strip edges with rubbing of the book corners and lower book edges. Light browning and foxing to the text block edges and pages. Offset tanning and heavier foxing to the endpapers. Chipping to the dustwrapper corners and to the back strip edges. The top dustwrapper edge shows a few small tears, with associated creasing with a single tear to the lower edge of the rear panel. Rubbing of the dustwrapper with a few marks also present. Dust jacket w/edgewear, 1/2" tear to top of rear fold, subsequent horizontal crease across top edge of back panel, 1/2" tear to bottom left edge of front panel, subsequent diagonal crease, faint dampstain to inside of bottom edge, soil/spotting to top right portion of front panel, scrapes/abrasions to same area..
