About This Item
New York: St Martin's Press, 1978. Foreword by Gerald Durrell. A sequel to the author's previous book, "Flying Feathers"... the delightful account of the establishment of his bird breeding sancturary at Daws Hall. Iain Grahame's enthusiastic commitment to the conservation of rare birds and their dwindling habitats makes complusive reading. His infectious sense of humour vividly recreates the ups and downs of this oddly assorted menagerie. This rare bird farm is in Suffolk. Daws Hall is an international centre for rare and endangered species of pheasant and a breeding centre for a wide range of waterfowl. The book is peppered with amusing instances that invariably happen to people who keep animals but, in between, Grahame gives us a lot of solid advice and awareness on the intricacies of keeping and breeding birds and on bird psychology. Pictures that adorn the book are by Timothy Greenwood as is the beautifully illustrated dust jacket. Eleven figures can also be found throughout this book. A clean, bright copy - a delightful read!. First Edition. Hard Cover. Near Fine/Near Fine.
