Mariner's Harbor, NY: O'Donovan Rossa, 1898. Apparent First Edition . Blue Cloth. Very Good/No Jacket. 12mo - over 6¾" - 7¾" tall. 402 pp., some spotting to front cover, INSCRIBED by Rossa's wife, Mary Jane (Irwin) Rossa - "To Sister Attracta with kindest regards of Mary J. O'Donovan Rossa/St. George, October 1914." Mary Jane Irwin was a poet and married Rossa in 1864. After Rossa was imprisoned in England for treason, Mary Jane sailed to America, where she took up the plight of Irish political prisoners in English gaols and toured all over America giving lectures and readings, calling for their release. After four years in jail, Rossa's sentence was commuted and he was banished to America where he started a newspaper named the "United Irishman." O'Donovan Rossa died in 1915 and his wife died a year later.
