The CRI&P, also known as the Rock Island Line or The Rock, was first formed in 1866 through amalgamations and ground to a halt in 1979-80. The brokerage firm Goodbody was formed in New York City in 1886 but collapsed in the late 1960s.

The Golden State was a named passenger train between Chicago and Los Angeles from 1902–1968. The Golden State had the same declining passenger revenues as other trains in the 1950s and 1960s, although service was not downgraded severely as on other trains. A sleeping car and grill/lounge or dining car was always included. Offers 4 different dinner choices and also an A La Carte Menu. Cover panels lightly soiled and with light bumping to one corner. Very good. A hard-to-find item.

The book is stamped "Property of Rock Island Lines" and is loaded with advertisements for hotels, clothiers, hatmakers, railways, jewelers, etc. There are articles and descriptions for each of the western dattes (Idaho, Oregon, etc..). This is an oversized book, handsomely bound with strong covers and all pages on glossy paper. The book is in good shape - it is nice and clean and the binding is solid. The covers show a few small spots and there are some pages with some light rippling due to possible moisture - no stains - the pages are all clean. Unrecorded guide to the railway trip (and preliminary program) for the 1898 American Medical Association meeting in Denver by way of the Wabash Railroad (St. Louis to Kansas City), and the Chicago, Rock Island & Pacific Railway (Kansas City to Denver). The guide includes description of the train accommodations (round trip fare St. Louis to Denver $26.50), special cars, the train schedule (with illustration of the new Union Station in St. Louis), a preliminary program of meeting events, and points of interest including the trans Mississippi and International Exposition in Omaha. Oblong 8vo (10 x 7"), 26pp. Printed pictorial paper wrappers, with route of Denver Special at rear wrapper. Front wrapper faintly dusty; bright and clean copy.

N.p.: N.p., 1970. Archive of 32 vintage photographs documenting the October 20, 1970 collision of two trains along the Chicago, Rock Island, and Pacific Railroad line in Raytown, Missouri. Also included in the archive is a single broadside reward poster offering $5000 for information pertaining to the accident. According to a contemporary newspaper article which appeared in nearby Jackson County's Independence Examiner, the accident was believed to have been caused by juvenile vandalism to a nearby track switch. The collision and subsequent derailment resulted in the death of one engineer, whose partial body is visible in several photographs. The photographs in the archive range from close-up shots of the mangled train cars and tracks to distance views of the surrounding woods. Frequently displayed in the images is a small, handwritten police chalkboard noting the date, location, and case numbers.
