About This Item

Trade paperback. First edition. Very little wear. There are a couple of small tears (1 cm and 1.5 cm) where the covers meet the top of the spine. Complete number line.

This is a very exhaustive dissection of the Dark Tower series, almost a retelling. I thought about classifying it as a biography, of Roland. And Stephen King, in some ways. The writer is decidedly a fan. 351 pages, including four appendices. Stephen King did have some involvement in the writing of this analysis.

Synopsis

In 1970, Stephen King embarked on what would become the crowning achievement in his literary career-the Dark Tower. The seven-volume series, written and published over a period of 30 years, was inspired by Robert Browning's poem "Childe Roland to the Dark Tower Came," as well as J.R.R. Tolkien's The Lord of the Rings , and the spaghetti Westerns of Sergio Leone. With the full cooperation of Stephen King himself, The Road to the Dark Tower examines the epic journey of the author to complete a story that threatened to overwhelm him. In this indispensable companion, Bev Vincent presents a book-by-book analysis of each volume in the series, tracing the Dark Tower's connections to King's other novels including The Stand , Insomnia , and Hearts in Atlantis , and offering insights from the author about the creative process involved in crafting his lifelong work-a work that has consumed not only Stephen King, but his legion of devoted readers. This is essential reading for any Dark Tower-or Stephen King-fan.

About Turtleman Books

Thanks for visiting Turtleman Books. A small on-line only bookstore at the present. Future plans to open a physical outlet in a small town in Western Washington sometime down the road. Many of my books are oversized. Rather than ask for shipping adjustments at the time of purchase, the list price for heavier books includes the excess shipping cost. All of my photographs are of the actual product, taken by my trusty little Kindle Fire. Currently we have over 3200 books offered for sale, with more being added daily. Check back frequently to see what's new. -----
