This is a volume in The Firearms Classics Library of The National Rifle Association and its National Firearms Museum, privately printed for members of the Firearms Classics Library. Sharpe's Rifle in America, first published in 1938, "is the most competent general coverage on the American rifle." Thanks in part to that definitive nature, along with the fact that the book was a beautifully produced one and a vital reference source, the volume is recognized as an essential acquisition for anyone interested in the crucial role rifles have played in the unfolding panorama of America's manifest destiny. As historians have long proclaimed and as Sharpe realized, the rifle was a key element in, America's western-oriented expansion which ultimately saw her people embrace and settle the heartland from the Atlantic to the Pacific. In other words, to delve into the pages of The Rifle in America is to be transported to the essence of our country's past. This is a large and heavy book - additional shipping charges may apply.. This volume is in perfect, pristine condition, unmarked, unread, tight, square and clean. AS NEW. . The Firearms Classics Library Series. B&W Illustrations. 4to 11" - 13" tall. xii, 641, (1) pp .
