About This Item

the "Colac Herald, Colac, Victoria, 1970. Second Edition. Hardcover. Very Good Condition/No Dust Jacket. Illustrator: Various Contemporary photographs and Maps. 300 g; 182 pages, front paste down map of the river system of eastern Australia, rear paste down map of Echuca, text illustrated with black-and-white photographs, some full-page, foreword by Manning Clark,, second forward by Professor Samuel McCulloch. Previous owner's detail on the inside of the front cover, small light brown Coffey spot on the lower part of the front panel, and because of the buff paper, handling marks shall up very easily. Nonetheless a very good copy, 1st published in 1952. "This second edition comes by request from the Echuca Historical Society. In a way, I have come back to the study of the rivers reluctantly as my time is rather fully occupied as Principle of a High School, in which position I now enter my 60th year. The wide interest in the river story has been impressive to me; I still receive letters from all over the Commonwealth on this made me realise the need to re-print, enlarge and revise. I offer the result with all humility. -- from the preface Size: 8vo - over 7¾" - 9¾" tall. Please refer to accompanying picture (s). Illustrator: Various Contemporary photographs and Maps.
