Three large fold out color maps - Indian Reservations, Linguistic Stocks & Indian Territory and Oklahoma. 22 other full page plate maps - two in color. In addition, 23 beautiful full page chromolithographs - 2 fold-out - 21 in colors - 21 chromolithographs are by leading artist/illustrators of the time by Julius Bien & Co. Ltd. N.Y. & Sackett & Wilhelm. Artists include Julian Scott 1846-1901, Gilbert W. Gaul 1855-1919, Peter Moran 1841-1914, Henry Rankin Poore 1859-1940 and Walter Shirlaw 1838-1909, with impressive listings in Ray Davenport's Art Reference and Price Guide. Many are portraits of well-known Indian chiefs. 177 other full page plate illustrations including many photographs on slick paper by mainly well known photographers. Many photographic portraits of chiefs/leaders. Innumerable charts throughout. Very attractive and recent full deep rich brown morocco binding. 4to. 11 3/4" x 9 1/4" x 2 1/2". Black label on front and spine stamped in gilt "Report on Indians - 1890 Census". New cloth hinges, new endpapers. Totally complete. Text, illustrations, maps and bindings are all in very nice shape. Fine condition. .
