Washington (Senate issue): Robert Armstrong (printer), 1853. Octavo. 31pp. index, 198p. bound in full calf expertly rebacked with original labels preserved, free from the foxing that is endemic to this volume with library stamp at head of book, illustrated with large folding map, views and full page black & white and tinted plates containing the entire landscape issues of the Zuni tribe, mammals, birds, reptiles, fishes and plants. Everett Graff states the bird plate #2 was not issued, and there is an extra (unlisted) botanical plate numbered 21.The present copy appears to be lacking botanical plate 4 but has 78 plates as called for in Graff plus the large folding map as called for in Graff.[ Howes S528. Wheat 763. Wagner/Camp 230:2 Graff 3809]. Carl Wheat writes of the map: "a monumental achievement ...though marred with misspellings [it is] exceedingly well done." (Transmississippi West 3, pp. 22-24).
