[auction catalog] The Renowned Collection of First Editions of Charles Dickens and William Makepeace Thackeray [and] The Renowned Collection of First Editions of Thomas Hardy, Rudyard Kipling, Robert Louis Stevenson formed by George Barr McCutheon. Hardcover. Both auction catalogs bound together, green cloth with paper spine label. Illustrated with facsimiles of rare and autographed items, prices realized printed in bold in margin before each entry. Included are 329 lots of Dickens; 182 lots of Thackeray; 133 lots of Thomas Hardy; 373 lots of Rudyard Kipling; 298 lot s of Robert Louis Stevenson. A wealth of material on all of these authors, but most especially Charles Dickens, as McCutheon's library was one of the finest collections of rare and early Dickens material to come onto the market in the early twentieth century. The finest copy we have seen. Podeschi H17. Hardcover. Fine/No Jacket. 8vo - over 7¾" - 9¾" tall.
