About This Item
Paris: Draeger, 1932. First edition. Metal spiral. Card stock boards, with silver foil pastedown. . Near Fine. With its silver foil pictorially embossed cover and bold interior graphics, an unusually striking automobile catalogue or sales brochure -- even by comparison with other catalogues of the same era, when glossy and resplendent catalogues were something of a norm. One can fairly liken this car brochure to the spectacular sales annuals created by Hollywood studios at the time, Also scarce, with no copies located on OCLC. Folio, 31.5 by 23.5 cm. Unpaginated, [28] pp, with fold-out centerfold, a four page spread, showcasing the Stella car. Profusely illustrated, with a combination of partial color and full color drawings and b/w photos. Besides the sleek classic cars, the brochure also features other, more utilitarian Renault vehicles of the day -- trucks, buses, aviation and marine motors -- and factory views, sometimes arranged into a montage across the page. Some scuffs and flattened dog ear creases on the cover and a few minor spots within. Overall, an exceedingly well-preserved copy of a stunning production, capturing perfectly the beauty of the vehicles of the day.
