[6],904pp. Portrait frontis., illus., portraits, plates. Orig. 3/4 red morocco and gilt-pictorial cloth, all edges marbled, housed in custom cloth slipcase. Front inner hinge starting, wear to spine ends and corners, small piece torn from front free endpaper, else a very good copy. Dornbusch III,60. "Recollections of dozens of Confederate veterans living in Texas in the early 1900's" Nevins II, p.248. "The Neale Publishing Company's entry in the 1912 Publisher's Trade Annual happily announced issuance of this work in a three-volume set, bound in cloth, costing $15. The large single volume privately printed for the author in Dallas that same year is the only known version--and it may well be the only version that ever existed" Krick 576.
