London, printed by J. C., 1651.. and a large, yet faithful offer or undertaking for the benefit of them that will joyn in this good and publick work. Imparted some years ago to Mr. Samuel Hartlib; and now by him re-imparted to all ingenuous English-men, that are willing to advance the prosperity, wealth and plenty of their native countrey. FIRST EDITION 1651, small 4to, approximately 175 x 130 mm, 7 x 5 inches, pages: [4], 14, [2], collation: A², B-C4, C4 is a blank, title page with decorative woodcut border, bound in later marbled boards, endpapers renewed, gilt lettered red leather label to spine. Boards slightly rubbed, title page slightly trimmed at top and bottom, not affecting printed area, 2 neat corrections and 1 word crossed out, lower margin of C3 trimmed, no loss of text. A very good copy. The author recommends industry, urges the fallowing of lands for any crop, and the use of much less seed. Rare original poetry book with cloth covered boards, copyright 1880 by J. W. Shoemaker & Co. This edition published in 1906 by the Penn Publishing company, Philadelphia. From the estate of my great-great grandfather.Includes many unique poems and recitations such as "To a skull", "Uncle Daniel's Introduction to a Mississippi Steamer", "The Leak in the Dyke", etc. More well-known poetry includes "Song of Birds", "Old Ironsides", and "Bannock Burn" by Robbie Burns. Light rubbing and bumps to outside spine edges. Back cover and interior cloth covered board has a stain at top. Original owner's name and address from 1908, but no other writing or marks. First 2 pages have a stain at top, but text of 192 pages of poetry and recitations is totally clean with light tanning of pages.
