About This Item
New York::: New Directions,,, 1949... First Printing of the First US Edition. A Fine tight copy in a Near Fine unclipped dust jacket with a touch of age darkening to extremities. There were only 2000 copies of this hardcover edition issued. This is one of Patchen's earliest experiments with the prose poem and coincides with an increased interest in formal experiments of concrete and semiconcrete poetry. A number of these poems are clearly in keeping with the tradition of "proletarian realism".
