Some scattered light foxing. <b>A defective copy</b> lacking pp 1-32 (B-E) (sections on Deer, Badger & Fox) and 2 plates (The Pointer and the Spaniel), as well as the Index + Directions to Binder, pp 365-7 (AA7-8).. Charming woodcuts by Luke Clennel and engravings after paintings by him. Clennell (1781-1840) was an artist and wood-engraver. He began his artistic career in the workshop of Thomas Bewick (1753-1828), where he trained for 7 years. Bewick was then at the height of his powers, having just put to press his first volume of the celebrated <i>British Birds</i>. Shallow marginal tear 1cm by 2cm to top of frontispiece and similar but smaller tear to top of titlepage + two tears without paper loss. Slight creasing to upper part of pages from p 222.
