New York: Alfred A. Knopf, 1964. Book. Near Fine. Cloth. 1st Edition. 8vo - over 7¾ - 9¾" tall. Blue cloth with gilt lettering and dark blue designs to the spine. Stated First Collected Edition, uncommon as such. This copy is NEAR FINE in a VG, price clipped DJ designed by Jean Carlu and dated 4/64. Exterior is brilliant with a touch of crimping to the spine ends. Edges are sharp. Gilt is bright. Inside is unmarked, crisp, and tight with only very modest toning. Top page edges dyed red. DJ has some tape supports on the verso at spine and top edges. Otherwise DJ is rich and clean with moderate toning on back where adjoining book did not cover. The four classics are : The Big Sleep, The High Window, The Lady in the Lake, and Farewell, My Lovely. Foreword by Lawrence Clark Powell.Quite nice. .
