About This Item

London: Michael Joseph, 1970. Bound in the publishers turquoise green boards with gilt title lettering to spine. This is the first impression of the first edition. All pages are present and correct with previous owners name to ffep. Book sits solid and square with all corners sharp. A very decent copy inside and out. Housed in the Very Good dustwrapper with publishers printed price intact on front inside flap. Light creasing to the edges and overall signs of handling commensurate with age otherwise a nice example of the famous dustwrapper. The first glass of wine I have ever seen with a free Cesna light aircraft floating inside it ! Mind you, first of all you have to get past the gun placed rather menacingly on the top of the glass. One wonders what the second glass might produce ? A full size replica of the QE2 perhaps ! Dustwrapper now protected in a removable archival booksleeve to preserve its condition. Photographs of the book and the dustwrapper are available on request. A very presentable Dick Francis first edition copy which is becoming inexplicably scarce of late.. First Edition. Very Good/Very Good. 8vo - over 7¾" - 9¾" tall. FIRST EDITION.

Synopsis

Hired to fly four racing buffs to the track, pilot Matt Shore expects it will be the kind of job he likes: quick and easy. Until, that is, he’s forced to make an emergency landing just minutes before the plane explodes. Luckily, no one is hurt, but it isn’t long before Matt realizes that he’s caught up in the rat race of violent criminals who are dead-set on putting anyone who stands in their way on the wrong side of the odds…
