Cummings), handwritten letter by Mitchell to Cummings is laid in, in the original envelope; minor bumping of one corner, endpapers toned, else very good condition. Mitchell writes in extensive, highly documented detail about the legal aspects of race relations and racism in America. He was an attorney in Philadelphia, and a former Treasurer of Howard University. The publishing entity was a project of the American Methodist Episcopal Church and one of the earliest African American publishers.
