Quarter bound in leather over cloth-covered boards, gilt titles on front. Heavy wear to spine, cracked on joints with minor loss at ends. Heavy wear to boards and edges, corners rubbed through to boards. Previous owner's stamp on front free end paper. Page folds on front free end paper and first page. Clear signs of page fingering on prelim pages. 100 of large photographs of London at the end of 19th century. Otherwise, internally neat, clean, bright and tight. Oblong 4to.

Cassell & Company, 1897 Cassell & Company, 1897. 434 pages. Book in fairly fragile condition. Cover is very stained and marked, and edges of cover frayed and worn. Some sections of the cover's fabric are peeling away from the edges of the book. Back cover is almost completely detached from rest of book. Spine is very worn - outer fabric cover has come off, and cardboard layer beneath remains. Pages are very well-thumbed and bumped and edges are a little yellow. Some water staining to inside edges of pages. Pages otherwise clean and tightly bound, and photographs very clear. Includes a page (which is detached from rest of book) with an inscription written in ink: 'To Miss Holins, With Mr and Mrs Holloway. Love. July 1899.' Condition consistent with age of book. A collection of black and white photographs of London, its notable buildings, parks, etc and residents - and the Jubilee celebrations - at the time of Queen Victoria's Diamond Jubilee.
