About This Item
Queen Isabella and Her Ladies (King Richard II) Engraving. 14 x 10 inches. G.H. Boughton Pinxt. T. Sherratt, Sculpt.
The engraving by Thomas H. Sherratt is from a picture by George Henry Boughton and shows a scene from William Shakespeare's "King Richard II" depicting a seated Queen Isabella of France. The illustration most likely came from (but I am not positive) The Works of William Shakespeare 2 Vol Imperial Edition w/ Notes by Charles Knight and Steel Plate Illustrations. Published by Virtue & Yorston of London and New York in the 1880s. There are numerous references to it on the web.
Condition: Dust soiling, slight age-toning to margins.
