Beige cloth covered boards, with black printing on the spine; boards are bumped with some fading on the top edge of the front. Gift inscription on first blank page; remainder punch on first two pages; otherwise, pages are clean and unmarked. Rear hinge weak, strengthened with archive quality paper glue. Hodder and Stoughton hard cover with dust jacket, 28th printing 1942, 192 pages. 12mo (4.5"" x 7"") ""Quality Street"" is a comedy set in Napoleonic times. The story is about two sisters who start a school ""for genteel children"". The show was produced first on Broadway, and then in London, where it was a hit, running for 459 performances. It was frequently revived until World War II.
